A county jail, state correctional institution, federal prison, and immigration detention system each leave different public records. Why This Reference Exists

Pennsylvania does not operate one database for every release. County officials retain local jail booking and separation records. The Pennsylvania Department of Corrections runs the statewide Inmate/Department Supervised Individual Locator for current state inmates and people under DOC supervision. Those systems do not mean the same thing. A current jail roster usually drops a person after departure. A DOC supervised-person result can show an actual release date while parole continues.
